You are moving your coal to a tinder like lint..The lint has to be mostly cotton.. ...sometimes it will go to flame but that is not really its purpose...Take the lint ( use it like charcloth)and place...

Outer bark on a ceder makes a killer nest thats almost fool proof if time enough is taken to make it real fuzzy. Dry grass works real well aslo, just make it fuzzy what ever you use. Mike

Ok. All this makes sense. So once I have a bunch of glowing coal in the lint it should be ready to ignite the jute or bark shavings. I'm gonna be up late tonight again.

gduff, Here's the deal, shred up the tinder real real good shake out the fine dust. You want fuzzy cotton like stuff, Ceder bark works real well for this. Get a good size batch to learn with about the...

Lacking suitable fiber tinder, plain old ordinary rotten wood punk does a great job. It carries a coal and a few pices placed in contact with one another can be blown into flame directly.

The second video clip on this page shows blowing a coal into flame. Notice how the fiber nest is manipulated and folded around the coal. You want to keep it in the center while the heat builds....
